June 4 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm$20
National Trails Day: Water Trails at Widewater State Park
Celebrate National Trails Day by taking a “hike” on one of Northern Virginia’s blueways. What are blueways? Hop in a kayak and paddle Aquia Creek with a ranger to learn about the growing importance of blueways, or water trails, in Virginia. Along with the paddle, your guide will point out important historic, cultural, or natural features of Widewater State Park as seen from a new perspective.
This program is limited to 10 participants, so registration is required. The cost for registration is $20 per person and includes all rental equipment and parking. Cost without rental equipment is $12 per person. Be sure to bring plenty of water and sunscreen. Please arrive at the visitor center at least 20 minutes prior to the start time to check in.
- Children 6-12 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian in the boat.
- Children 13-17 may paddle solo, but must be under the supervision of a parent/guardian.
- All paddlers are required to wear a properly fitting PFD.
