First Day Hike: Winter at Widewater State Park

Long before Captain John Smith explored the area, this area was the home of the Patawomeck Tribe. Explore Holly Marsh or Long Pond Trail while learning how the Patawomecks used their environment to survive harsh and cold winters. This hike will be self-guided with a length of approximately 1 mile over an easy trail and will end at the Visitor Center. Pets are welcome but must be kept on a leash no longer than 6 feet long. Be sure to dress for the weather, wear sturdy walking/hiking shoes, and bring plenty of water to stay hydrated.

After your hike, stop by the Visitor Center to check out the displays about the history of the Widewater Peninsula.
