Join local resident and historian Frank White as he discusses the life of his father on the occasion of Black History Month.  This February presentation will be held at the monthly Stafford County Historical Society meeting.  Meetings are held in the Board of Supervisors Chambers in the Stafford Government Administration Center.

How do artists capture the mood and light effects in landscape? In this workshop, participants explore how to use color and form to create an expressive landscape painting. A demonstration shows how to see color and simple shapes as a starting point and how to create atmospheric perspective and depth while developing individual styles. Ferry Farm will again host its annual celebration of our first president's birth on Saturday, February 18th.  Come help celebrate the 280th birthday of America's first president at his boyhood home. Games, crafts, the annual Stone Toss event (weather permitting), first-person interpreters and, of course, CAKE! Also tour the archeology lab and exhibit room. 

We cannot tell a lie...George Washington did not really throw a silver dollar across the Potomac River.  However, at his boyhood home Ferry Farm, he probably threw stones across the Rappahannock.  Is your arm as strong as George Washington's?  Give it a try at his 280th birthday party in Stafford.  There will be games, crafts, first-person interpreters, cake, and the annual Stone Toss event (exact time to be announced; weather permitting). 

Ferry Farm is rich in history.  Over the years, thousands of artifacts have been discovered there during archeological digs.  On Presidents' Day, learn how archaeologists are revealing the secrets of the Washington family at Ferry Farm. There will also be crafts, games, the Object Whisperer, simulated digs, and ­the Magnificent Materialist...Teller of Artifact Fortunes.  Archeologists will also explain how they do their important work of conserving artifacts for future generations.  Suitable for all ages, & Free admission!
