The first Union soldiers entered the town of Falmouth on April 18, 1862, as the Confederates burned the bridges over the Rappahannock to the City of Fredericksburg. Return to the Historic Port of Falmouth for the 3rd annual arrival of "Yankees in Falmouth!" (and Confederates too!)
Activities include an encampment, firing demonstrations, story-telling, Civil War artifact displays, and the reading of actual soldiers' letters from Falmouth. Mingle with members of the 54th Mass. unit, visit the display on African American history, and stop by to chat with the Cavalry. The Stafford County Historical Society will be on-site selling special Stafford gifts and books. The Moncure Conway House, which is only open for special occasions, will be open for tours. Nearby, Amy's Cafe will be open for lunch and dinner in the historic Cambridge Inn.
